Middle School Assistant Principal
Building on decades of success, Bruriah Middle School seeks a dynamic and talented educator with administrative and leadership skills for the position of Assistant Principal for the 2023-2024 academic year and beyond. The Middle School Assistant Principal, working alongside the Principal and the rest of our administrative team, will enable our school and students to embrace the opportunities of the present and meet the challenges of the future, foster a love of Torah and growth, and empower Bruriah’s students to be lifelong learners and outstanding and self-confident members of the Jewish community and the world at large.
The Middle School Assistant Principal is a full-time, 12-month position and a senior member of the administrative team reporting to the Principal. The position begins July 2023.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serving as a model for Bruriah students to emulate
- Fostering academic excellence and student growth through engagement and learning
- Promoting individual student learning, growth and success
- Utilizing best practices in instruction to create dynamic learning environments, and collaborate with colleagues for implementation
- Contributing to an atmosphere that nurtures a love of Hashem, Torah, Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael
- Transmitting mission in curriculum and programming
- In Designated Departments:
- Writing, refining, implementing and supervising curriculum
- Assisting in hiring teachers
- Supervising, evaluating, and supporting new and returning teachers
- Scheduling courses and assigning teachers
- Placing students and promoting individual student needs
- Communicating with parents and overseeing teacher communications
- Promoting co-curricular programming in collaboration with students and faculty
- Participating in recruitment and retention of students, including interviewing students, representing the school at recruiting events and connecting with prospective parents
- Leading and participating in regular administrative and faculty meetings
- Leading student assemblies as needed
- Serving as a member of the senior leadership team of Bruriah in developing new school policies and administrative procedures
Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
- Embody Bruriah’s values
- Understand the unique developmental needs of middle school students
- Possess an advanced degree in education or a related field
- Have at least 5-10 years of teaching experience in a Yeshiva/ Day School or similar environment
- Have demonstrated administrative experience
- Be able to work as part of a collaborative team
- Experience in meaningfully contributing to forming, articulating and implementing school vision
- Demonstrate a reflective mindset, intellectual curiosity and leadership
