Head of School
Torah Day School of Ottawa (TDSO) is seeking a Head of School (HOS) for its elementary school program. The HOS will lead a dynamic team of educators and administrators to deliver on the school’s mission to provide an immersive Jewish learning environment, consistent with Torah values, so that Jewish children are able and inspired to participate in Jewish life. The position is intended to be staffed for summer 2023 and includes a competitive compensation package.
About TDSO
TDSO is an Orthodox elementary school located in Ottawa, Canada. The school is comprised of families from diverse Jewish backgrounds –including Modern-Orthodox, Yeshivish, Chabad, Da’ati Leumi, and Traditional. TDSO’s current enrollment is 90 students with significant growth potential. It boasts a strong team of teachers (Judaic and secular), administrators, and support staff who are committed to the vision, values and students of TDSO. Position: The HOS will play an active role in the development of the school and implementation of the next phase of its development. This is not a static position, rather an exciting opportunity to effectively shape the direction of the school and realize its vision for the future.
People: The TDSO team is committed, capable, and competent. From the board to the office staff, the HOS can depend on their colleagues to always step-up and add value. The board leads fundraising, facilities management, and finances which allows the HOS to focus on the core programs. TDSO has a veteran general studies principal who will support the HOS in their management role and a skilled team of teachers and administrators to implement the academic and corporate programs.
Place: Ottawa is unique in the way it blends the various streams of Jewish identity into a close-knit and vibrant community. It is a strong mid-sized kehilah – 15,000 Jews, 200 frum families, and Jewish infrastructure – and is always looking for ways to innovate and enhance the Jewish experience.
