Jewish Studies teacher
Kehillah Jewish High School is hiring Full and Part-Time Jewish Studies teachers for the 2022-23 academic year. The ideal candidates are dedicated educators whose expertise and passion have prepared them to teach engaging courses on Modern Jewish History (American and European), Holocaust Studies, and courses related to Jews and race. While familiarity with pre-Modern Jewish Studies is considered an additional asset, the core teaching and curricular duties will focus on Jews and Judaism in the Modern Era and Contemporary World. We want collaborative colleagues who appreciate a pluralistic community and are excited about approaching Modern Jewish Studies through innovative pedagogical methods including experiential, project, and inquiry-based learning. We are a supportive teaching environment that embraces collaboration, outside-the-box thinking, and innovative pedagogy. You’ll be in good company with educators who are published authors, scientists, artists, photographers, comedians, activists, actors, renowned scholars, patent holders – people who speak multiple languages, celebrate a slew of holidays/traditions, and embed themselves in the culture and diversity of Silicon Valley. We are a community that fosters a culture of mutual respect, diversity, and inclusion. You’ll find colleagues here who will always care and encourage you to find your strengths and grow. Kehillah is a school where you can not only teach but also flourish as an educator. The classroom experience includes debate, dialogue, critical inquiry, and experimentation bringing every class to life. Each student is challenged, actively encouraged, and supported to reach their potential. Faculty are directly involved in creating a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive environment by differentiating instruction, supporting diverse learners, and implementing a wide-ranging curriculum. Must have at least three years of high school (or above) teaching experience, be adept with Zoom and blended or flipped classroom technologies, and eligible to work in the U.S. If you want to join a community of passionate educators who empower students with the wisdom of Jewish values and strength to flourish in a rapidly changing world, we would love to meet you!
