About HAFTR
HAFTR facilitates a warm, student-centered learning environment that offers a rigorous Judaic and General Studies curriculum. Our educational program, which is driven by data and inquiry-based instruction, fosters creative and independent thinking skills while also being designed to provide access for all students in our diverse community of learners.
HAFTR’s instructional focus is predicated on our commitment to developing each student’s capacity for academic and intellectual achievement. Our faculty is galvanized around our shared mission to develop each student’s capacity to learn, both individually and collaboratively, and to cultivate each student’s growth mindset. Complex and open-ended essential questions frame each of our units of study, and our teachers position students to develop deep understandings of the how (processes) and why (significance of) as it relates to their work.
HAFTR’s academic curriculum is buttressed by rich extracurricular and social emotional learning (SEL) programs. Students involve themselves in a wide array of activities including robotics, debate, Torah Bowl, student government, as well as athletic teams and community service and chesed projects. As a foundation for all of our learning, SEL teaches students how to regulate their emotions, connect effectively with others, and develop their strengths in service of having better relationships, increased resilience and improved wellbeing.
