For over 25 years Gesher Yehuda Yeshiva in Brooklyn has provided a customized special education curriculum designed to build upon a child’s unique strengths and gifts. We provide a community Yeshiva in the Sephardic tradition for all Jewish children where they can develop the self-esteem and confidence needed to live a full and successful life. Our team of expert professionals craft a unique path for each student by applying the latest research in a cross-disciplinary way.
Overall Goals
- Provide strong educational leadership and ensure that Gesher Yehuda Yeshiva provides an excellent special education integrated with strong secular and Judaic studies.
- Serve as a role model for all the school’s stakeholders, while providing a serious, disciplined and respectful educational environment for students, faculty, administration and parents.
- Provide an environment in which state-of-the-art special education pedagogy can flourish.
Overall Responsibilities
- Supervise, Schedule and Hire Faculty
- Implement Professional Development Trainings
- Develop/Implement Innovative Teaching Methods
- Work Closely with the Upper and Lower Division Educational Directors and the Director of Judaic Studies to create integrated programs and ensure a productive learning environment.
- Work closely with the therapeutic and mental health teams to ensure all aspects of a child’s development are addressed
- Work closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Trustees
- Promote a Positive Nurturing Environment for Students, Parents and Teachers
- Accurately assess and work with a wide range of children
- Develop a positive working relationship with parents
- Be an effective ambassador from the school to the Brooklyn and Long Island Jewish communities especially the Sephardi community
- Final decision maker regarding staff and student matters.
Qualifications
- MA in Special Education and Administrative Policy
- Proven ability/track record as a lead educator with 7+ years of experience
- Strong Inter-personal and excellent communication skills with demonstrative skills as a team leader
