School Social Worker
The School Social Worker at SBHDS will support staff and students to provide professional mental health services. The School Social Worker’s role is to intervene when students are struggling and help them find healthy ways to succeed in school. They educate students on social and emotional concepts. They collaborate with staff to identify students that are struggling emotionally, socially or academically and identify the root cause of their issues. School Social Workers direct students and their families to sources of support to help students overcome obstacles.
The School Social Worker’s main responsibilities are:
- Promoting the general well-being of students
- Offer mentoring and suggestions for teacher and other school personnel
- Develop and provide crisis intervention strategies to improve student success
- Work to maximize coping skills for students in difficult situations
- Work in collaboration with the school counselor
The School Social Worker works in demanding environments and should possess the following skills and qualifications to ensure the success of both students and the School Social Worker:

- Able to set clear boundaries with parents, students and staff

Director of Student Services/Resource Room
The Director of Student Services/Resource Room oversees the student services at SBHDS, assisting all students to achieve personal, social and academic success. The director will supervise the special services faculty, ensure service plans are being developed and met, and help provide leadership in the development, implementation and review of a school-wide discipline plan. The director will report to the Head of School and General Studies Principal, collaborating with both the Judaic and secular staff as a member of the school’s Leadership team, fostering a trusting, collaborative, open, and positive atmosphere which advances excellent education in the best interest of students.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise Resource Faculty-setting up daily schedules, individualized service plans, assessment schedule
- Lead DLI (Diverse Learners Initiative) contact
- CTC for the State of IN
- Oversee the development and implementation of all assessments and instructional programs
- Liaison to city, state and federal agencies responsible for providing funds for student services , and oversee implementation of Title 1 program, including faculty (decisions about the use of Title funds will be made with the school Leadership team)
- Guide teachers on how to accommodate student needs
- Follow up with classroom teachers and parents to ensure the student’s needs are being addressed and met
- Benchmark testing-Ensure that benchmark testing in Hebrew and English, input and analyze the data, meet with teachers, ensure progress monitoring happens, enter the data and analyze
Early Childhood Director
We are looking for a passionate, thoughtful, Early Childhood Director to join our educational leadership team. The Director is a full-time, year-round position that demonstrates leadership abilities by assisting with daily operations of the school including policy implementation, curriculum coordination, development of a stimulating learning environment for faculty, children and families enrolled and creation of a warm sense of community and learning.
Responsibilities:
- Promote and brainstorm for innovation and creativity in our classrooms and programs
- Remain current on issues and trends in early childhood education
- Monitor teachers’ professional development and mentor teachers on teaching practices
- Support teachers in planning and implementing learning experiences and daily routines
- Model best practices within and without the classroom, including but are not limited to classroom management, diverse learning needs, and emotional responsive practice
- Participate and lead teacher planning meetings, age group meetings, and individual reflective supervision with teachers
- Support and organize purchasing needs for school supplies and materials
- Ensure all state and local health department regulations are being followed and maintained.
- Experience in early childhood Judaic studies
- Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Early Childhood program with emphasis on age-appropriate play-based curriculum, based on Jewish Values and Ideals
- Cultivate and maintain solid parent partnerships through open door, responsive, proactive communication
- Degree in early childhood development or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in this role.
- Minimum of 3 years’ classroom experience.
- Strong leadership and administrative skills.
- Love for children and passion for teaching
