Head of School
The Phoenix Hebrew Academy (PHA), a pre-K through 8th grade school, the longest established Orthodox school in Phoenix, is looking for a dynamic and creative Head of School who will bring strategic vision to the school. This position will commence for the 2022-2023 school year (July 1, 2022). The applicant will be passionate about education, able to supervise and lead faculty, and manage the fiscal demands of a school. This will be a dynamic individual who can grow our student enrollment and interact with a diverse student population. We are looking for a visionary that can build upon the strengths of our institution and bring it to new heights. Additionally, the school has a close relationship with its attached synagogue, Beth Joseph Congregation, and its members.
The Head of School serves as the school’s CEO, and within this capacity will not only lead the day-to-day management of the school but will be the public face of PHA within the broader Jewish community. PHA has always been known for its inclusive atmosphere while adhering to a Centrist Orthodox hashkafa. The ideal candidate will be involved in promoting and advancing the uniqueness and advantages of our school in the context of the several other options available in our community.
The Head of School will report to the Board of Directors and work closely with the board to design and implement the school’s strategic priorities and a plan for sustained growth while also working with Scholarship Tuition Organizations to increase their contributions to the school. Further, the Head of School will act as the chief fundraiser for PHA, working with development committees and staff on cultivating donors (both old and new) and improving the school’s financial resources. Moreover, the candidate will be responsible for student retention and be expected to maintain the appropriate communication with the parent body.
The ideal candidate should have knowledge of educational pedagogy and best practices in secular education, the head of school will ensure the implementation of curriculum and instruction, as well as having a proven ability to provide and coordinate professional development for all staff. Monitor and measure progress, uses data to know learners, establish learning targets and determine next steps to improve instructional practice and student learning.

The successful candidate will have:
A Master’s degree or above, or its equivalent, in the area of Judaic or secular elementary education, educational leadership, or academic administration is strongly preferred.
Salary commensurate with experience.
